Jim Brown (Cleveland Browns) hands down was the best to ever play the game. The other teams knew he was going to run,yet couldn't stop him. When he retired after just 8 seasons, he held the career rushing record for years. He could have played 8 more seasons.
Best team of all time is the 70's Steelers. Won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years and the year they didn't was the best team ever. They lost 3 top running backs and lost to Oakland that year. That would have been 5 Super Bowls in 6 years. They had it all Quarterback Terry Bradshaw, 2 thousand yard rushers in Franco Harris and Rocky Blier. Great receivers, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. Defense led by Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, etc. etc. etc. Just awesome talent. Coach Chuck Noll was good too, although I think the players made him look better.

Offensive player: Jim Brown Defensive player: Dick Butkus. Quarterback: Johnny Unitas Jim Brown played for the Browns,Butkus for the Bears and Unitas mostly for the Colts. The best team was the undefeated Miami Dolphins of 1972! 17-0 is hard to argue against until someone else equals it.

It still all comes down to "Sweetness"...Walter Peyton.
He was the consumatte professional, class act all the way. The perfect combination of grace, power, speed, and agility. He did most of his damage early on when he had one of the most horrible offensive lines in football for several years. Oh sure, some have better stats, have more Super Bowl Rings....but he embodied everything that Football stands for.
Team? Geez, I still have to give the nod to the '72 Dolphins, the only undefeated, untied team in NFL history. And they did it most of the way with their backup QB.

Chuck Bednarik. Why?
the last player who played offense and defense and the positions he played were ROUGH...center and linebacker. He did it for I think 13 years.

No doubt about it BARRY SANDERS of the Detroit Lions! The guy was a classy athlete. Never wanted anything for himself, always for the whole team. Never celebrated after a touchdown, he handed the ball off to the referee. What a guy. And if he would've played a whole career instead of leaving it short, he would've smoked everyone's records and probably wouldn't have been passed for a long time. He was never injured either. We miss you Barry.....

Troy Aikman- The guy was successful and put up with more crap than anyone. He never gets the credit he deserves. He was money in the playoffs, and he gets extra credit for winning a super bowl with Barry Switzer as coach. That ALONE should atleast get him in the conversation.
Best team- 1985 Bears......they beat my boys 44-0, and it shoulda been worse. They were dominating.
