I think it was a jewelled brooch in the shape of a hare/rabbit. I cann't remember if it was found. I seem to remember a fuss about it. there was a picture of the brooch on the front of the book.
You were supposed to read the book, figure out the clues and you could dig it up. weren't the clues impossible to solve??

I remember that book but not the name of it but I do remember the broach being found on some beach over there

yes it was titled masquerade,i think it was about a golden hare that was buried somewhere in england.

It was "Masquerade" by Kit Williams. I don't know if anyone found it - seem to remember some kind of cheating.
