I saw the whole thing on T.V. At first seemed as if everything was ok. I think Zidane even smiled and was walking the other way when all of a sudden he turned around and head butted Marco in the chest. It was a beautiful head butt as far as head butts go but I was shocked especially since this was the world cup and he was France's Capitian. Why would he throw it all away, no matter what Materazzi said to him. He showed a total lack of control and deserved to get booted. Obviously he did not learn the adage of stick and bones will brake his bones but words will never hurt him, that is if he doesn't let them hurt him.

There was a fierce exchange of words between them,and Zidane at first walked away,then the other chap,Materazzi said something else, with that Zidane just walked right up to him and headbutted him in the chest,quite openly and aggressively! Why? nothing has been reported yet, so it would be pure speculation to hazard a guess. One things for sure, he was pretty mad!!

More than likely Mterazzi said something tio him. Also likely the Italians were trying to wind him up all game hoping he would be sent off and Italy would win. The same happened to Rooney.

I think he probably bet a lot of euros against France, and knowing that he is their head player (no pun intended, but heehee) he tried to get himself ousted. Like playing up his shoulder injury when Cannavaro barely touched him...he practically begged to be switched.
