I am looking to find out detailed advice, tips, suggested service vendors, itineraries, etc., for going to the Beijing Olympics in 2008. I am looking for advice from people who have been to other Olympics games on the best way to secure tickets at the best price, advice on securing accommodation and airfare at the right time and at the right value, and suggested itineraries on how to choose which events to watch, particularly when the schedules conflict or when the venues are far away. What are the various "upgrade" options for premium tickets or VIP treatment, and are they worth the price? Are there established vendors that I should go to to handle all of my ticketing, scheduling, and accommodation needs? Are tickets usually available to individuals directly from the Olympics committees, or must one go to the secondary market because the big business snatch up all the tickets immediately?

I have never been to the Olympics so I am seeking advice from those who have already been.
