At 12 weeks its nearly impossible to hear a heart beat with a doppler let a lone a low resolution one sold on the net!!!!!
~trust in your body i know its hard when you have had a miscarriage but if this baby is meant to be then its sticking around
~nothing you do will change the outcome
~the use of a doppler by an unqualified operator is proven to increase not decrease stress!!!!!!!
~and you have answered my next statement with your question if you cant hear it or hear a deceleration what will you do......panick when it may well be operator error
~throw the bloody thing away
~look for natural symptoms
~~~breast tenderness
~~~nausea
~~~no vaginal bleeding
AND REMEMBER
not everything that is on the market is good
hay they sell
cigarettes
alcohol
lead based fuel
I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I heard my babies heartbeat for the first time about 2 weeks ago. My husband had to work so he missed it. Last week we were at a store that had a "doppler" so he bought it so he could hear the baby. I was so excited to get it home and try it out. We could hear my heartbeat and everything else in the room but not the babies heartbeat. I was reading the instructions and it said that the dr uses a different kind of machine that makes the babies heart sound the way it did when we heard it there and the machine we bought is more natural and we had to be "trained" (by the cassett tape that was included) on what to listen for. I havent tried it since. I doubt its broken and I doubt there is anything wrong with yours. Mine did say that it is easier to hear on these "home" products during the third trimester.....
Take it from one who knows.... I was pregnant 8 times in 9 years.... I have 4 living and healthy children, I lost 4... 2 miscarriages.... one I lost in-utero in a car accident halfway through the pregnancy and one I delivered at 28 weeks after having my water break at 20 and being told it hadn't!
I am guessing this is your first (which didn't miscarry early)... and so congrats!!!
Don't get discouraged, with my first one I didn't even realize I was feeling her move I thought it was gas... . I know it is very scary when you have already had miscarriages, but fretting isn't good for you or the baby... No doubt your baby is fine and you have heard it's heartbeat, which hopefully offers you some comfort... put the "gidget gadget" away... you are obsessing, and it's hard not to... pregnancy is exciting and scary.... but this toy is obviously causing you more worry than comfort... Your doctor is right, it isn't a professional one, those are extremely expensive. They sell these because they can... I am not trying to insult you... but Ringling or Barnum said it first... "there is a sucker born every minute"... and sales plays fear and naivety to their advantage! (Have you seen the ad for the fan that hangs on your window of your car and is run by solar power... 14.95.... I was nearly sucked in... I saw that the car sitting in the sun for 20 mins with the fan was 75 degrees while the one without a fan was 107 ... my fiancé set me straight though... where is the cool air coming from? The sun is still bearing down on the glass... and there is no A/C running in that sitting car.... you get the idea)
Just have faith and try to not fret... stick with the doctors appointments and follow their instructions, rest have some ice cream (sugar free if you are diabetic), be aware of your body, if your baby for some reason doesn't make it, you would not be able to stop it anyway ... I know that's not comforting and really I am not wanting to upset you, but if by chance it's heart had stopped it would likely already be to late to be able to do anything at that point anyway... but let's think positive and be thankful for 12 weeks and just take it a week at a time... only 28 weeks left to go... pretty soon you will be able to feel your baby moving and you will have that sense of security... (unless you think its gas )
If something happens to cause you concern, go to the ER as previously suggested... otherwise... try to relax and enjoy this quiet time before your little one gets here... because once they do...
Good Luck and get your money back! One day you will be able to laugh about it too.... like me and my gas!
They should not sell those things!! It is hard even for docs to hear the heartbeat sometimes. It all depends on the position of the baby and the placenta. You might only hear yours because the baby is lying behind the placenta. I used to work on Labor and Delivery and it would take me forever to find fetal heart tones on full term moms. Just try and relax until your appointment. I know it can be stressful when you've had miscarriages, but things are gonna happen the way they are supposed to..its god's will. Good luck :)
Those are hard to hear on. At 12 weeks even the one at the doctor's office could not pick up my baby's heartbeat and they had to do an ultra sound and everything was fine and I am now 17 weeks along. Those are recommended for 14 weeks or later.
i am 37 weeks and I still can't hear my babys heartbeat. the doctor didn't hear it until 14-15 weeks. I have also miscarried. don't worry and take it easy. if your not bleeding or cramping do not go to the er. I now have a weekly appt and i hear the heartbeat well. your baby is fine. if you'd like get a fisher price prenatal monitor in a 3pc nursery set. I have one and it picked up on her movements early on. i heard my heartbeat too. the babys is just faint that early in the pregnancy.
Those dopplers don't work. I had one with my first and even at like 7 months pregnant I couldn't hear his heartbeat. Piece of junk if you ask me. You'd probably have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a professional doppler that actually works. If you're not bleeding or cramping I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!
My friends ordered a doppler and said all they ever heard was background noise-no heartbeat.
They have a healthy 2 month old now.
I wouldn't worry about it, but if it maks you feel better, go into the doctor or ER.
I would return the doppler and try not to stress yourself out it's not good for the baby. If the doctor says it's not professional, then don't use it. Think positive and trust your doctor.
those things are a waste of money. If you are feeling fine and have no effects such as cramping or anthing like that then need not to worry. I am sure if you had anything wrong your doctor would have caught it by now.
