As a matter of law, you are now no more the parent than you are to Chelsea Clinton. It is probably not an option to now have the termination of parental rights reversed unless there was a fundamental (usually constitutional) error in the process. Your only real possibility is to re-adopt, but it is doubtful a court would allow that. You should not be paying child support for a child that is no longer legally yours. Sorry

All states are different regarding custody. Do you have visitation rights? Do you see them on a regular basis? I don't understand a system that would terminate your parental rights and let your parents adopt your child and still, make you pay child support. But of most concern, you say your living condition is 3 x's better than 9 years ago. That's great, but it needs to be 100 x's better than it was before. Having your parental rights terminated (for any reason), is paramount here. Your daughter is 14--one of the hardest ages for a child, as well as the most influencial (peer pressure, parental influence, consistancy in parenting, constant supervision, etc). If you are ready to give your daughter 100% of your time & effort, if you are ready to go to counseling with her (to find out & change her present problems & your past ones), than maybe you are ready. Because you can believe that she has issues regarding your loss of parental rights. If you are ready & capable of turning her life around, than seek legal council. If you are not ready to give 100% (and more), than don't persue this....for both your sakes. As far as the money goes, if your parents adopted the child-they have assumed all legal rights and responsibilities, for your child. Legally, you should not be paying support, if your parents adopted your child. Seek council for this. I think you have a winner on your hands. You do realize, don't you, that you can be a force in your daughter's life, without changing a thing, right? If your mother (and the court permits). Good Luck in your decision. Hope you do the right thing. Only you know for sure.

You might have a shot at it, but it's gonna be a long hard road. Were you on drugs? Hope you went to rehab. An alchoholic? Hope you joined AA. If you have truly changed, you should be able to show that you have changed somehow. If you are going to do this, you will have to prove that 1. You are permanently a much better person than you were 9 yrs ago 2. You are in a stable enviroment. You might consider asking for simple visitation rights in the beginning for a trial period to prove to the court your new situation. Might be more likely to happen. But you will most definetely need a lawyer, and the best lawyer in the world won't help a bit if you don't walk the walk. Good luck and I hope things get better for your daughter!

I believe that once your parental rights are terminated, you no longer pay child support. And if they are adopted then you definitely don't have too. But it sounds like you might have a case. Do you have a good relationship with your daughter? I'd get a lawyer. and if need be, stop paying and see if they still want her

Don't know if there is any hope for you or not. You did not disclose your State and it will require a legal mind familiar with the laws of that State to advise you. My advise: Get your tubes tied so you don't inflect this miserable life on any other innocent children.

You may have a case, but you certainly will need a lawyer. Look for one that deals in family law or child advocacy.
