Though the majority of play was on the Italian side of the field they at least didn't head butt anybody and they won the penalty kick off by not missing any of them. Yes, they deserve it. It could have been a little more pretty, but they still deserve it. The best team won.

I guess so. They don't have that many quality attacking players so they have built their team around their strengths - their defence. Buffon and Cannavaro have been outstanding, as has Gatusso their defensive midfielder.
I'm pleased for Marcello Lippi. I have always thought that he would achieve great things as a manager. Imagine what his CV looks like now? I am pleased that Italy managed to win on penalties, after the controversial heatrbreaks of the past seven tournaments. I felt sorry for them after the Euro 2000 final.
I also have a sneeky admiration for Marco Materazzi (even though his gamesmanship was foul and unprofessional). 8 years ago, he was playing for Everton and playing badly. Who would have thought then, that we were seeing a future World Cup winner?

They were not fantastic against France but they dug in and battled a lot of adversity to get there. Think the ref disallowed a perfectly good goal in the match.
So I guess they deserved it

I could name at least 5 teams that consistently played better. This tournament was full of disappointments.
But, you Italy fans go on and have your fun....
