I can only answer that from the point of view of my mother and her sisters, all from Spain of Spanish parents and so on and so forth. They believe they are superior in language, as it is the pure Spanish. The true Spanish, I should say. Castellano, or Castillian Spanish, is the Spanish of the kings... Remember Fernando and Isabela? Well, think about it. Spanish everywhere else came from espana!!!

No, Laura, they do NOT speak it better. That is an ignorant statement. If it began in Spain, how can someone else speak it "better?" Try to tell the world that North Americans, that is, US Citizens, speak English "better" than the British people do!

Well, actually Spain has a different dialect. They pronounce s's as th's in English. They are the only ones who do that. Also in some parts they say vos, instead of usted, which is only used parts of Colombia. So, basically Spain is very different from Latin America. But Latin America itself is quite similar, except for idioms and slightly different dialects.
