Hopefully not but it sort of stinks that he (Zidane) will be remembered for being unsportsman-like. That head butt into the other player's chest was not only uncool but unnecessary. Sure you're frustrated that you're losing momentum and you're tired and you just want the game to be over but you never lose your cool like that - and because he's retiring, it makes it all the more sadder because he should have ended his career on a high note and not on such a crass and disgusting action.

The French newspapers and tabloids will probably crucify Zidane and blame the loss on him. Last time I checked, one player did not make an entire team. Sometimes you have to look past the superstars and see that the heart of a soccer team, of any team, is the guys who run, defend, and sweat with the likes of Zidane, Figo, Beckham, and Totti.

I would say not. The French won't blame the loss on one player, as most people shouldn't. Despite anything you will hear in the media in the coming days, the French, as a whole, will continue to see Zidane as a hero. Vive la France!

Are the Italians going to hate De Rossi for what he did to Mc Bride? I don't think so!
Zidane is a great player and going out with a red card in a world cup final shows that he gave it 1000%.... there is so much stress involved at this level of the competition and he knew that the whole team(country) counted on him...People are going to remember Trezeguet missing his PK...

Most likely yes,he was pretty wreckless, and rather silly, they lost, they NEED someone to blame. That said, they may also say that as the Italians got away with a lot of cheating,THAT was to blame. They will NEED to find a scape goat, simply because they lost.We all want a scapegoat when we loose, its natural.
As for Le pen, like you said propaganda, now he has some ammunition, question is, WILL he use it?, probably yes.
