well stretching is VERY important. before and esecially after. also, its good to book a few lessons with an accredited gym instuctor the first few times you attempt a proper routine, they will teach you how to perform excercise properly so that you do not over exert your self!

It takes a little while for your muscles to get use to being in use. That's why you always hear fitness instuctors saying can you feel the burn. Don't quit, it will stop in a couple weeks of continuse excersie. But if the pain is really bad you might have pulled something so be careful. Good Luck.

Exercises like ab crunches and sit-ups do not burn as many calories as brisk walking/running, and may injure your abdominal muscles and lower back. You'll lose weight faster if you just maintain a lowfat, lowcal diet, drink plenty of water, and do enough aerobic-type exercise (dance workouts, walking, running, stair climbing, swimming) regularly.

Ab exercises are better when you've already lost the weight and are trying to tone the area.

Eat six meals a day, but maintain a 2000-2500 calorie diet. The smaller portion more frequent meals will speed up your metabolism and allow your body to burn fat. Concentrate on core body exercises. If you are using weights, use less weight with long slow reps. Cardio would help as well.

If you are exercising everyday then take a break. Only exercise 2-3 times a week in moderation. Don't strain yourself or you will be sore. Just take it easy and you'll be fine. Over exerting yourself will cause you to get hurt.
