i really dont know, but i wish i did. my guess is something really filthy, not just about his age. i mean, hes used to that by now. probably something bout his religion, his family, someone hes close to... maybe someone in his team, calling him an arab or smthin similar. but it must have been something really bad because normally zidane manages to keep a cool head!

Haha... Italy will be stripped of the title when the facts come out!!!! He said something like "go back to Africa, you don't belong to Europe". Very few people know that Zidane has African Background but he has! He responded spontenously without thinking of the consequences because he is NOT used to receiving racial slurrs.

He is not used to receiving racial slurrs because he looks white. The Italian goalkeeper actually said something to that effect to Henry PRIOR to this incident (holding Henry around the shoulder to make sure he hears) but Henry just replied "**** YOU" without taking any physical action. Henry is noticably black so he is used to this, and he responded appropriately.

Notice that when the Zidane case happened it was the Italian goalkeeper who allerted the referee. This tells you it was a pre-planned and pre-medditated phsycological and racial tactics that the Italians used against the French to expell a French player and consequently win this Championship. FIFA is fighting a battle right now against racism in football so I'm absolutely convinced that when the facts come out, Italy will be stripped of the title!

Finally, this should be a lesson to African players. If they ever want to win this cup they should be prepared to receive racial slurrs on the field without taking physical action.

I'm sure it was something really insulting and aggravating. However, there's still no reason not to be a good sport, most especially when you know the World Cup is being watched by billions. Zidane should've been smarter than that, for himself and for his team. There was no excuse.

whatever he said, it's not an excuse for zidane's doing. I couldn't believe he would do something sooo stupid... just report materazzi to FIFA after the match and retired gracefully.

I'm a fan of italy but I like zidane too so it's kind of sad to see him end his career this way.

I don't know, but it was probably some trash on France.

If it was trashtalk about France, I cannot blame Zidane for doing it, and I was rooting for Italy. Hell, if someone was talkin' trash on me and my country, I'd definitely kick some ***. I don't think you can blame Zidane for doing what he did if the Italian said personal crap on Zidane.

It obviously wasn't something nice, but that is no excuse for Zidane too do what he did in return.
