No. The Linean binomial for humankind is Homo sapiens, the 's' is part of the latter word, and no more removable than the final 's' in grass.
That said, the 'homo' in homo sapiens is Latin, meaning 'man', while that in homosexual (and other words like homogeneous) is Greek, meaning 'same'. They have nothing to do with each other.
