If you take any large group of people out of American society, you are going to find some bad apples and a few more who only need a little push to take them over the edge of sanity. It is unrealistic to expect that every soldier is going to be an angel. That being said, the military does a great job of weeding out the "bad actors." No system is perfect, but don't lump all military together with the few bad ones. There are way more good ones than the other type.

War is supposed to be hell, but nowadays nations try to sanitize it. Sanitizing war does nothing but encourage tryantical regimes to become emboldened. I mean, what the heck? Go to war against the usa and they will come in and rebuild ur entire country afterwards. Sounds pretty good too me.

Can you answer this for me, please? Has anyone been charged and convicted of rape yet in the Iraqi war? Let me answer for you, nope. So your question isn't entirely accurate. Anyone can accuse, but proving an allegation is more difficult. So maybe you should wait until after the trial ends before passing such judgement, huh?

I know war is hell, but rape and murder is inexcusable under any circumstances. I hear people saying, "They're only human" or "This is their 3rd tour over there," and I say hogwash! There is no excuse for rape and murder by American soldiers or those from any other country or century. Rape and murder has occurred throughout history. If you study history you'll find that soldiers have always done this. I answered a question earlier today and found the answer from Freedomhammer (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjcR3NKUN1xx38ruxd4LjRPsy6IX?qid=20060709064733AAT7vLv ) to give the best example. Check out his answer @ this link. You'll see what I mean.

To begin with you are assuming guilt before there has been a trial. At least wait until all of the evidence is in before convicting. Why does anyone anywhere do vile things. There are just some bad people in the world no matter what job they have. Finding this kind of person and weeding them out is the key, hopefully before they do vile things.

Even soldiers are human, and in the vast number of men wanting to go to war and kill someone, you're bound to get a few rotten apples. Maybe they were prone to be of the criminal set before they signed up, or their bad intentions may have bloomed after they had enough reasons to get angry enough to take their aggressions out on anyone that was vulnerable. Violent men need little reason to rape, kill, and plunder.

Sworn to protect what/who? It's vile...not viel. Have you ever heard the expression the spoils of war? War itself is vile and souldn't occur; however, as long as nations and individuals differ in opinion on various issue(s) than war will be with us.

For the same reasons that non soldiers do vile things. Personality disorders, chemical imbalances, psych disorders, you name it. Just because you have a uniform doesn't change basic human behaviors, deviant or otherwise. And most of those stories are just crap being spread by the liberal media and Al Jazeera

Its just the same as why have some catholic priests had sex with children....

You cant judge all soldiers by the acts of 5. We have THOUSANDS of soldiers who have been to Iraq; and this is the first we have heard of something like this.

It's sad... but, we are all born with a sin nature. Sometimes its hard to explain why people do things...

Just remember, our soldiers are PEOPLE... humans are all different.

I have heard of police officers snapping, our postal workers, doctors... etc... it's not just our soldiers and their job... it happens in all different jobs.

That's a good question, but the answer is because there are bad people in this world, and thats all soldiers are is people. The same reason why we have corruption in law and government.

It's not a good excuse, but I think it's because they've sworn to protect their country and they usually rape/kill their enemies citizens... which is just really cowardly on their part.
