go to messenger menu>preferences>privacy tab
and enable idle status

You go idle when you're logged in and not using it after some time passes. You can set the idle time in the preferences section. It'll also tell you if you want people on your buddy list to see how long youre idle too

Depends on what your settings are. There is an option under preferences where you can change when your messenger goes idle.

You will be listed as idle after a set time that you do not send a message.

u have to be away from yahoo messenger (still logged on) you can stay and ignore yahoo messenger and it will list u as idle for blah blah blah....

if your computer is on, but your mouse is not moving and you are not doing anything. like if you leave to go eat dinner or something then it will probably be idle when you get back. not sure how long it takes exactly.

Mine has a screen on the right hand side where I have my contacts to call. It has a listing saying actions, click on and it will give you a list such as. Be right back, Steeped out, Available, not at desk, invisible to all. click on to your option .

and u still have to be online not away
