Yes, I think the Pope certainly watched it and yes, I'm sure he prayed for Italy to win. I think the Pope did pray for all players but in his heart he lives in Italy and that's that. You can't deny the culture that surrounds you. He wanted Italy to win.

I think the Pope watchd the world cup bit not prayed he probaly rooted and hoped Italy would win but I don't think he prayed..God has more important things to do than make a soccer team win or lose

The Pope reigns over Vatican City, which is not a part of Italy. VC is a separate nation.
