I know quite a few people addicted to popular mmorpg's - I mean, addicted to the point of neglecting friends, family, children, etc. Is anyone else noticing people in their lives affected by video games to the point where they never leave their house and are constantly in front of the computer screen? What are you all doing about it?

Yes, I know a couple people who have a serious addiction to an online game. One of the people rarely leaves her house, she doesn't call anyone anymore, she even neglects her son. The other day her son told me that his mother only cares about the computer, it was very sad to hear. The problem is she doesn't care, and won't realize how much this game is hurting her life and the people who love her. It's really a huge shame what these games do to people.
These type of mmo online games are ruining society - people don't feel the need to socialize in real life anymore because they have "online" friends. It's all quite ridiculous. I miss those days when you could go out with people and no one was like "oh I have to stay home and play a game because..." It's all so sad.

that is hardly an 'dependancy' in any respect. extra of a compulsion or an obsession. 'dependancy', a minimal of in a literal and organic and organic sense, signifies that something is actively influencing your body's inner chemistry to three extent the position your body turns into bodily reliable on that addictive substance. genuine addictive aspects, heinous drugs/alcohol/tobacco, reason withdrawals even as your body doesn't have what it now 'desires'. severe alcohol/drug withdrawal can convey about hospitalization, psychological disturbances, or maybe lack of existence. <-THATS what an dependancy is. with a view to propose that videogames can do an same element on your body as that is an truly ignorant and stupid declare. Even a huge fat lie. they could't adjust your body's chemistry in that way. they could't. they in simple terms can't. Now obsession is a diverse count. compared to dependancy, obsession is a psychological situation and not in any respect a actual one. As all of us understand, people can grow to be obsessed to fantastically a lot something - And blaming videogames will not help those with obsessive habit issues.

Me, but I can't really do anything about it. I don't have kids yet and my bf isn't addicted to it. I have noticed it in schools and high schools, even colleges. I tried to mention it to my friend's bf who is addicted to any PC or PS2 games, but he doesn't listen. I don't know what else I can do?

First of all, it's not an addiction, it's a COMPULSION, big difference. Secondly, if you're not skipping life's basics (hygiene, meals, work, etc), I don't think it's anyone's business what somebody else does in their spare time.
