My partner and I have chosen to go the surrogacy route to start our family. We were ready to begin insemination this month in a traditional situation. The surrogate changed her mind. She was a friend of a friend, who really never considered surrogacy until meeting us. We are now thinking gestational with no biological ties is the best way.

I'm a gestational Surrogate. I think the gestational is better because then it is your baby. And the surrogate is less likley to go through the giving up a baby feelings. I hope that helped some.

I think even with the gestational there is still the legal problems, because even though it would be your egg and his sperm she is still technically the "mother". Talk to a lawyer about your options. Some surrogates end up with visitation rights and if this is something that you do not want you would have to have that written up by the lawyer.

I don't understand. If you are going with no biological ties anyway why not just a adopt a baby that needs a home? There are so many children out there already... if you can't have a child why not help one that doesn't have parents?
