I'm a redhead, and for as long as I can remember, I have obtained sunburns. I cant stand them but have learned how to deal with them.
You can, ( if you do NOT have blisters) use vinegar. Put some on a rag and wipe down with it. It stinks to high heaven, but takes out the sting.
You can also make some hot tea. Letting it steep for a while and then rubbing the tea, ( once cooled ) on your sunburn. The tea has an acid that stops the burn, and also helps the skin tan afterwords.
Aloe Vera is also a very very good thing. It's cooling and helps the skin. Make sure you keep yourself moisturized where the sunburn is as best you can. It will help with the peeling process.

I get really burnt a few times a summer (blond/blue - fair skin), the best thing I have found is to take a leaf from and aloe plant, slice it down the middle and lay the open part directly on the skin. It soothes and takes out the pain and redness.

I think it's best to use a real aloe vera leaf, but not everyone has a plant. When I don't have the plant, I use aloe vera that has Vitamin E in it. I try to apply it every hour and that seems to work pretty well.

I used to get terrible sun burns as a kid, when aloe vera didn't work, my mother got out the vinegar soaked a rag then rubbed it on my burn. It took the sting away immediatly, even if it did smell, it was worth it.

You can buy that Solarcaine stuff at the drug stores. It will take the sting away
for a while. You can keep body lotion on too. it won't keep you from peeling,
but it will keep from itching really bad.

aloe vera, straight from the plant. It smells nasty, and feels nasty, but it works! mash it up and have someone slather it all over you. it's nasty, but it works!
