Do you fake a smile, hide, hit them, hope he/she has a fine trip hone during the hurricane....???

And, what about a politician who begins a sentence with the words, "consider me old fashion, but, here's the way I look at things.."

Or a credit card company/supervisor who begins a sentence with the words, 'you gotta understand..."

HUH...

In the first case, if you don't remember something, then you don't remember it. Maybe if the relative talks a little more about it, you will remember, but it doesn't matter if they remember something that you don't, does it? You can talk about something else.

In the case of the politician, don't believe half of what s/he says, especially if they're making campaign promises!
The credit card guy sounds like s/he's trying to let you down easy, if s/he starts out that way.

The gist of the discussion out there (sorry, there are too many pages to provide all the links) is that wands help to focus the magic resident in the witch or wizard, but wandless magic is still possible, particularly for very talented people like Snape and Dumbledore. Some examples ... Apparition Assuming one's Animagus form (or Metamorphpagus) Accio (the Summoning Charm) Elves can do magic without using wands Lumos

First, I smile. Then, look thoughtful. If pressed for an answer, I say I have to think about it.

Old fashioned thinking is okay, it's just a point of view. What's new fashioned thinking?

The only things I "gotta do" is pay taxes and die.

when the say and do you remember I get ready to laugh do to the loads of stupid thing we did when we were young, or smack them and say you know we can still go to jail for that right?

when politics say the old fashioned line I think hey buddy its not old fashioned anymore get with the program focus on the present and no I won't vote for you

as for credit card companies I like to say "how can I pay my card off when all you do is add late fees and over the limit charges?" or I don't answer the phone

I don't have many old friends, but I don't mind reliving fun times~~as long as we don't talk about it everytime we see each other.
Politicians~~Some old fashion things are o.k. But,I'll never completely trust them.
Credit Card Companies~~ I don't do business with them. They are evil money grubbing F***s.

Yes, I remember the time - and enjoy the nostalgic memories.
Then I try to top them with one I remember.
Hey, it's a game ...
At least for family...and friends.
The other situations, you're on your own.

The first one: wonder why they feel the need to reminisce so much.

The second one: feel like all they want to do is justify themselves.

The third one: know that they are stuck explaining something to you and god knows who.
