whats the difference between hispanic and latino people?

nothing really.. but mostly.. Hispanics are from Mexico.. Latinos are from south America.. Cuba.. Porto Rico..ect

Im not sure. But, I think Hispanics are mainly the people who live in the Caribbean. Latinos, on the other hand are the ones on mainlands or of direct Latin blood-whether it be Spanish, Italian, German, or Portugese.
The word Hispanic comes from Hispaniola, which is the island on which Columbus first landed. It is now the Dominican Rep. and Haiti.

Latinos -> anyone whose roots go back to Ancient Rome. Latin is today a dead language but there are a few languages that come straight from Latin -> Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian.
Hispanics -> anyone whose roots go back to Spain.
So you see Hispanics are also Latinos.

Now if you are talking about Latin Americans, you only apply the above to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America.

Hispanic are people that speak spanish (could be from Spain) and latinos are from Latin America. A spaniard is not latino (for americans)

hispanic people are the ones that have been here for sometime, they are typically doing bad things and trying to cheat the government by having 10 kids and going on welfare.

you see them every week on America's Most Wanted.

latino people are the ones that have been caught and are in jail.

uh melissa, u got it pretty wrong. hispanics arent only from mexico. and cuba and puerto rico arent in south america, they're in the caribbean.

hispanic is someone whos got roots in any spanish country.
latino is a hispanic whos got roots in any latin american country (mexico, central and south america)
