1. Because once you label someone as evil, you can dismiss them. And labelling is ever so much easier than actually having to think. If they did think, they'd realize that fascism is a type of socialism - a leftist thing.
2. Because actually discussing policy would be wrong for them. You see, they are so convinced they're right and good and holy, that their political beliefs are like fanatical religious beliefs. To disagree with them is to deny their faith, thus making you wrong and evil and stupid. Facts be damned.
3. Because liberalism is like a permanent adolescence. They've never grown up. They think big brother should take care of them, feed them, find them jobs, house them, educate them, kiss their boo-boos and wipe their behinds. When you argue with children, they're going to call you names. And whine a lot.

Sorry to disagree, but why do you generalize?
If anyone seems to be thrilled with tyranny, it seems to be the conservatives who utilize this board.
Someone just asked if they can love American but hate liberals and freedom of speech.
I've seen questions that ask why all liberals can't be shot. I've seen questions that ask why all liberals just don't leave America.
It is abundantly evident that dissent - which is an inherent part of America's nature and history - is considered treason by many who participate in this forum.
Certainly not all people on the right support fascism. But you have to admit there are quite a few on here who seem to think that it would be a great way to run the country. Not saying there aren't liberal jerks on here too, but I see fewer calls for death sentences for other beliefs from the libs than I do the cons.
So when you worry about "silly labels", worry about your silly generalizations first. Then we can have a serious debate about any particular issue.

Liberals who say that are judgmental. You can't put generalizations on everything, but I understand the point you're trying to make. Some Liberals go with what other people say without being into the news or reading the newspaper on a daily basis - looking into current events. Most of them go with what other people say. That's why I believe most people are Liberal. They don't care so they don't vote. They don't really lean one way or the other, but that party just pulled them into their boat. Some Liberals will listen to what people with other views have to say - some, but not most. All Liberals do not conclude generalizations about people, accusing them as being a fascist. The world would be a better place if humans weren't judgmental of others.

Websters defines Fascism as a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
Let's see our government has been spying on its own citizens,
torturing people, and commiting voter fraud. They've let the big energy companies write polution legislation, big oil lead us into a war, and given tax breaks for the wealthiest. Those who don't like these things and want them stopped are labeled liberal, unpatriotic, wussies without the guts to do what it takes to keep our country safe. And this is why most of us are bitterly going "FASCIST..FASCIST"

when you insult a conservative why do they always go to commi commie .. See that is a stupid question. You also are a hypocrite because you asked this stupid question and then proceeded to get into the name calling with calling liberals totalitarian and compared howard dean to kim jong il. My god , can americans have a civil dicsussion of politics without calling each other antichrists. Which it is also funny as hell that someone with such distaste for humanity as yourself is playing it off like you are a christian, hmmm, ironic too

There were two forms of socialism at the start of the 20th Century - national and state. The national socialism was called, due to the German language, Nazism, while state socialism was called communism or Marxism. The specific form of tyranny the national socialists used was fascism which is a cooperation of industry and government similar to what we have in the US today (but not called such).
Marxism made war on many minorities, but Nazism, due to the German pereception that it lost WWI (this perception is backed up in recent Encartas) due to the Jews' treachery, made specific war on Jews. Today much of liberal thought base is also Jewish thought based and to Jews, the worst thing that ever happened to them (at least recently) is Nazism. Had the Nazis won the war, it's likely that it would have exteriminated all the Jews so this is an easy concept to grasp.
Thus we have liberalism linked to Jews, Jewish hate for Nazis which is linked to fascism. So to the liberals, the worst thing they can call you is fascist. I suppose that the worst thing that Nazis could call each other was 'jew', but I'm unsure of this never having met one.

Because within liberal philosophy everyone should be free to do absolutely as they please with no moral or ethical obligations as long as it is what they want done.
Such as; they want your money for taxes to implement their social programs but they don't want the same taxes on themselves and they don't want you to have a say in it.
They want abortion on demand for any woman anytime and antwhere without any restrictions whatever. They want this policy irrespective of the moral implications imposed on society by this act.
Liberals don't believe in any moral absolutes. This is why most people believe liberals to be agnostic, at best, and generally atheistic in their viewpoints. To have moral absolutes means that we have a standard from a higher power that we live by and this is not acceptable to liberals as they feel they should set any standards. As an example it was stated in the 2000 election; the Constitution should be able to be changed on a whim because it is a "living, breathing, document".
Remember they want everyone to be able to do anything they want, anytime they want without regard for any consequences. This goes along with their philosophy on war. Never go to war for any reason whatsoever. War and the military are horrible and should be completely dismantled. I would totally agree that war is to be avoided if possible. However the strength of our military is the strength of our nation. I would even go so far as to say that compulsory military service for three years for every person over the age of 18 would be a good thing for this country. Remember, Teddy Roosevelt said "Walk softly and carry a big stick".
Finally for all their bluster liberals are not the end all and be all that many of them would like them to be. Most of them are idealists without any grounding in the real world. When you work for a living you begin to understand the real nature of the world and the country we live in. As you make your own way you learn that the idealism of youth doesn't work in the real world. Actions have consequences and words mean things which are sometimes many times greater than ourselves. In a word; you grow up!!!

Because they're stuck in one-mindthink. They tend these days to blindly follow a few leaders based on their common, rabid hatred of President Bush. And when you're blindly following, you have no facts or real beliefs with which to discuss or debate. So they yell insults, repeat the same old talking points, and accuse everyone of doing and being the very things that they themselves are.
That's why they always trumpet that they think for themselves. It's the one that is most untrue. It's like they believe that truth is determined by volume and repitition.

I'm a liberal, so I'll try to speak on behalf of others. It's a really idiotic thing to say. Making generalizations is a terrible thing to do. Unfortunately, you're guilty of the same offense.
Generally speaking, the more radical a person's beliefs are, the more likely you are to run into the "fascist" excuse.

Most liberals will try to conduct a conversation with anyone, but when they say something, people just dismiss it. Also, in your question, you insult liberals for generalizing, yet you do the exact same thing in your post. You say "most liberals" can't have a discussion. I think you should make sure that you don't do the very thing that you are criticizing in your post.
