Ok people, let's work with a few theories: looking at the French coach, I mentioned to a friend that I think he's normally gay but is on the "down-low" with women because he has a secret sexual fetish regarding women. Zidane, however, is probably the complete opposite; i.e. he is on the "down-low" in the traditional sense... he secretly likes guys... remember Zidane lovers that this is a hypothetical theory.
So what really did happen that caused Materazzi to get "Zidaned" (the act of headbutting a fellow footballer in the chest in an attempt to practise for a new post-football career as a Spanish bull)?
Materazzi when he was close to Zidane said, "Hey, I bet you thought only you guys would've scored goals today, huh! Well, as you can see, I can score goals too!" As Zidane trotted forward, Materazzi chuckled and said, "You and your coach are an odd pair; you two are the same but exact opposites, except that his secret sexual fetish relates to women!" And he chuckled again.
Just at that point is when the tall French guy he was teasing turned around and Zindaned him. Poor lad.
P.S. One last thing, on a more serious note: Zidane is a professional with years of experience. I'm sure even if Materazzi did say something to provoke him, that he has experienced people saying mean things to him before; after all, that's something we come to accept from school days. He acted irresponsibly period. If it was a less popular player, everyone would be chastising him, including the Zidane lovers. Someone with the responsibility Zidane was given is expected to act maturely; he failed in his job.
P.S. (squared) I know you Zidane fans are probably gonna wish you could Zidane me too but alas, you'll have to settle for cussing me. I'm sure that will be a lot less painful to me than being Zidaned!!! :-)

No matter what Marco Materazzi said to Zidane, it must be something so bad that
pissed Zidane off. Marco Materazzi just played the innocent. I support Zidane. He is a great player.

I still can't get over that. This was his last World Cup...why screw it up like that?
Zidane shouldn't have acted in that way. Whatever Marco Materazzi had said...he let down a lot of people.

here's an article in the Daily Mail, it gives a little more insight into what Materazzi said, it's rough, he deserved that head butt.

I figure something to do with his age, his being French, or his missing that easy header a few minutes before.

Why do you really care? That's personal information that isn't any concern of the fans. I'm sooo glad this soccer crap is over.
