From the way he walked back towards the Italian player, it seemed like an instant reaction - i suspect Matterazzi said something to him and he saw RED. I think Zidane is a respected player so whatever was said to him must have made him lose sight of where he was and what he was doing - really sad way for him to end his career. I just hope but sadly i think that split second act is ALL that he will be remembered for :(.

I think Marco Materazzi must have insulted him somehow- maybe made fun of his religion/race/ethnicity? I think that you have to insult someone pretty bad to make them do that. One thing would be if he insulted Zidanes race/ethnicity, or religion.
Zidane is a great player, but that was a really ugly act. He might be remembered for that for his legacy now ;(

Cause he said something VERY insluting to Zidane an the guys racist (Matterazzi is racist an so is his team)
