Not all hip hop/rap is bad people, sure a lot of mainstream rap is but there's other older groups and lesser known artists who are pretty awesome. Even some mainstream artists like Common are good. So will people please stop saying stuff like ,"(C)rap" and be open minded and go look for good hip/hop rap music? Who else agrees?

Well, I stay away from anything with vulgar or suggestive lyrics which unfortunately does exclude a large amount of hip-hop/rap. I wouldn't have a problem if it was clean. Seems like Criss Cross wasn't so bad back in the day, but these days it has to have the vulgarisms it it to get played on the radio. And honestly, it doesn't sound right for "Christian bands" to rap. It doesn't feel right to me. Perhaps it's the gangster image that flows into my head when I even think about rap.

Sorry....but the hip/hop and rap genre are defined by hate speech and the criminal element. Those forces dominate both the music and the culture. If people are biased against this (most simply ignore this music because it sucks anyway), they have good reason to be. It's one of the more serious negative influences on young blacks in our country.

Rap is not bad at all people just need a excuse and something to blame when something goes wrong other forms of music are just as good and bad as the rest.country music they are always talking about cheating on there wives and rock and roll is always singing about killing them selves and doing drugs as well as rap telling people to kill each other. But the true reality is rap is newer and more popular and mostly involes people that are african american and hispanic and alot of people who cant relate to the lifestyles of those cultures will probaly never under stand and always be bias of what they dont understand

Well, the most well known hip-hop/rap is done by stupid/gangsta guys. They degrade their own race and especially women. They look like and talk like complete idiots. It makes them rich, but still makes their whole race look dumb. People stereotype, that does not moke someone racist.

people don't like hippity hop because of the kinds of people who tend to listen to it. they are roudy and dirty types of people.
they tend to do stupid things..violent things and people are just fed up with it.

rap has a bad reputation.
rappers are former drug dealers and ex-cons, some are still out shooting each other.
that whole genre of music is violent and will always be.

the lyrics are also degrading towards women. some are racist and others are very violent..is this the kind of music you want your 12 yr old kid listening to??

of course not.
