zidane was given a red card after giving materazzi a head on the chest. it's really sad for him to end his world cup career in such a way. im quite sure materazzi must have provoked him.

Zizou, Zizou, Zizou... why? Once again, taunts of racism & homosexuality send the beautiful game into freefall (no comments about Justin Fashanu, please, hyuk hyuk hyuk...)

Henry dealt with it earlier in the game by telling that racist twonk Buffon - translates as 'clown', molto appropriate, non? - to f*off...

My friend, who speaks several languages, says the exchange went something like this...

Materazzi gives Zizou a nipple tweak.

Z (Smiling): You would like some more my sweet?

M: Not now nig*ger, Mohammed & your mother tired me out too much last night.

I know that this might be contentious, but I feel quite strongly that the likes of Cronaldo, Materazzi and all anyone else guilty of cynical fouls & provoking behaviour should be sent off themselves, too. Then, if it's still drawn at ninety minutes, we can forget extra time & penalties and just have bareknuckle fighting instead.

Really hope that whatever 'dignity' has been restored to the Italian domestic game by last night's 'win' will be ripped out from under them when not only do Lazio, Juve & co get relegated today, but the world title is rightly given to - can't believe I'm writing this - the non-cheating French!

Allez les Bleus!

Well, they were talking and such before materazzi got knocked to the ground. Probably some comment on how Zidane is over the hill and not able to keep up with the game since he's about to retire. That's my guess anyways.

Of course Materazzi provoked him,and unfortunately he fell for it! I haven't a clue as to what he may or may not have said,it would be pure speculation, but no doubt it will come out if the media have anything to do with it.I WILL say though,it must have been something pretty bad,Surely Zidane would not want to end it like that, would he???

well in the replay, materazzi gives his nipple a good feel, and zidane starts to walk away, then materazzi says the nasty thing, and zidane whips his head round and they exchange a few shots, then the final straw is what materazzi says when he's jogging off.

You can clearly see both their lips on tv so anyone who can lipread italian will tell us.

If i am to hazard a guess it was some homosexual jibe.

What Zidane did is disgrace, period. I think he wanted to provoce Materazzii and get him sent off because there is no way professional football player would react in such way on any remark during important match.

materazzi said "When you were in Italy, I banged your wife",
zidane said "But that made the case 18 players up to date, not exciting"..
both run back to the pitch out of penalty area.
materazzi said "I forgot i slept with your BF".
zidane run and head butt...

Ref showed red card to zidane...
sagnol moved closer to zidane "Don't worry, the BF he was talking about is Thuram, not me, i always stay in munich, only Thuram lives in Juvy"

Final moments, Thuram is the only player crying in France squad.

Do The Math.

Terrible. whatever matarazzi said, is in no way close to a head butt to the solorplex. zidane should be suspended from career play. that just scared his career, and his shine in the all-time legends.
