I personally believed France would win and never would have guessed that Zidane would do such a barbaric move!

i hate to see a game end like that. france dominated play most of that game and to lose in pks and without henry, zidane, viera, ribery, its very unfortunate. and trezeguet missing by less than an inch sucks. italy had a lot of luck on their side in a few of this years games (think usa, think australia, think today), although u cant deny they still won it all. very good world cup all around though, time to get on with life. lol
zidane is still one of the best players to ever play the game.

re Zidane's headbutt:
Excerpt from:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinedine_Zidane

He was sent off for violent conduct after headbutting Italy's goalscorer, Marco Materazzi, in the chest in the 110th minute. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and Italy won the championship after a penalty kick shootout.
Since both players refused to comment on the incident, there are various allegations about what led to Zidane's violent outburst. His agent, Alain Migliaccio has claimed that a "very serious" comment by Materazzi provoked the attack.[7] Reportedly, the deaf forensic lip-reader Jessica Rees was employed to analyze the video sequences with the help of an Italian translator. According to these reports, Materazzi spoke in Italian - a language understood by Zidane due to his time spent with Juventus F.C. - and first told him: "Hold on, wait, that one's not for a ****** like you." As the players walked forward, Materazzi allegedly said: "We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore." Then, just before the headbutt, he was seen saying: "So just **** off." [8] [9] According to Brazilian TV Rede Globo, a lip-reader claimed that Materazzi twice called Zidane's sister a prostitute.[10] Earlier claims about Materazzi having called his opponent a "dirty terrorist" have been denied by Materazzi, who reportedly said: "It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means."

I'm not a fan for France or Italy. But, no matter what Materazzi said to Zidane it was Zidane's responsability to keep cool!! It was his last game ever, his last world cup, plus he was the team captain, he had to set the example. His behaviour was awful and he should be extremely ashamed. Also, Zidane's goal was a penalty... come on, it was much easier for him than materazzi's goal which was much more difficult... but they both played well, but Italy won, and after Zidane behaviour I'm actually happy that they did.

According to the New York Post ,Zidane was using racial slurs to alot of the Italian Players ,he gave it ,but he couldnt take it .Guttso said to zidane after the head butt, why didnt you do that to me I said the same things to you that you were saying to us .But sources close to Zidane said he knew not to do that to Guttuso, for fear of getting physically destroyed by Guttuso.Either way I wanted France at First ,but when they got away with that bad offside call. I was hoping Italy would Win and they did !!!

I think that France should have won the Cup. and for Zidane's headbutt, that italian must have said something really serious for Zidane to do that without thinking it over, some sources say that the italian said he was a "sale terroriste"(dirty terrorist). but still, you have to respect him for all the effort he gave for the french team.

1st off Italy was the better team and materrazi was obviously the better man. zidane only scored on a bogus call and he obviously doesnt know how to control himself considering this is the third time hes purposely injured an opponent...yes italy played a little off in the second half but over all we dominated due perserverance and sheer love of the game, plus if zizu was so good and noble why did he hide in the locker room while the rest of his team received there medals...ps Forza Italia

You're too old" Zidane:"I bet you the world cup I can." Materazzi:"OK old man." Zidane: "That's IT!. Wolrd cup here i...! BUMP!!!. Zidane:" In your face b***h!!!"

They didn't deserve it... this is why I don't like soccer, usually the better team loses. France outplayed the Italians the whole match, but unfortunately, they had Trezeguet who missed that shot.... It didn't help that they had to play without their 3 best players near the end.
