i can one time remember hearing on tv that they have exploded atomic bombs in space but can't really remember,if they have plz tell me what kind of bomb it was what they was trying to figure out by doing so-and what was the results,And plz include a sorce.

There was a 1.4 megaton device detonated by the U.S. about 200 miles above Johnston Island in the Pacific in 1962. The code-name of the project was Starfish Prime. This test prompted a ban on testing nuclear weapons in space. This test provided data which led to the understanding of the EMP effect and it's use as a weapon to disable an enemy's power grid, radio communications, etc.

no one to date (unclassified wise) has ever exploded an atomic bomb in space) Again this does not cover highly classifed information.

No, There were some high altitude tests but never above the atmosphere.
