First of all Speakers do not make a sound!

You connect them to your system with wires! Sound does not travel through wires. If you think so, try holding a wire up to your
ears and see if you hear anything.

A speaker is nothing but metal with wire wrapped around it connected to a paper cone.

Electricity is applied to the wire, where should sound come from?
The paper cone, the metal with the wire around it?

The only thing this device does is to set air into motion!

The moving air against you ear drums cause you to experience the audio inside your brain. Take air out of the picture and there is no audio experience.

As for waring out - I have a pair of JBL studio monitor speakers that I purchased in 1963, 15 inch Bass, middle range horn with a 10lb magnet and a ring radiator tweeter.

It Kicks A*% to day!

Yes, after a long period of time. The material used around the actual speaker, to hold it in place, tends to wear out. If you have that problem, you can usually just buy new speakers and install them into the existing box you have.
