Well like a republican answered one of my questions the other day. He said he wants to:
eliminate the minimum wage
eliminate social security
eliminate welfare
eliminate medicare

He basically described Mexico. I mean geez they want our elderly and some woman who just lost her husband with 3 kids, both living under a bridge, sick and starving.

Nothing. And unlike some of your compatriots, who feel they have to spurt insults at the other side to make their genetals or breasts appear larger, even though I will likely disagree with you on several subjects, I say be proud of it.

The only thing that I ask is that in conversation or discussion you use clear facts to back opinions.

If, to you, being a conservative is only about insulting those who disagree with you (as some on answers seem to think), then I suggest you do some research and reading before forming opinions.

As long as you are truly educated, be whoever you would like politically is what I say.

You'll note that several so-called conservatives on this question alone can't seem to say they're conservative without slandering the other side. So, while I don't attach it to consertivism, that could be something wrong with being one. In reality it has more to do with being an a$$hole - and conservatives and liberals alike can be that.

Not 100% sure if he's a conservative, but John J (below) is a good example of a good conservative (or just a good, respectful discusser / debater regardless of his politics).

There is nothing wrong with being conservative or Republican. Don't believe the lies liberals spout about them.

Here is the key for conservatives/Republicans. Rather than leave people in poverty with no hope and degrade them by making them rely on others, we believe that we should craft a country that allows these people to make their own way, to be successful on their own.

Liberals believe in massive, permanent welfare. They never propose solutions for getting those people off welfare and making them healthy, productive members of society. I think it's cruel to leave people permanently in poverty.

People focus to much on labels such as conservatives and liberals, democrats and republicans. What everyone needs to realize is that we are all Americans, and instead of bickering like children on even the tiniest issues, we should be able to talk to each other more effectively to reach compromises-this'll work wonders in Congress.

Hey, I want to eliminate or vastly reform social programs like welfare, medicade, medicare, social security, minimum wage, & unions too.

Our immigration problem is because we pay poor Americans that would do those jobs for survival to not work. Why should welfare not be a 18-24month program with mandatory job training & placement & a little tough love motivation at the end to force you to work.

Medicaide honestly I think it should be reformed & then expaned to a govt sponsored pay program (like fannie mae to real estate) for the working poor.

Social Security was a good program when started. It was created for the retired folks who's company pension disappeared with the company during the depression. It was NEVER intended for everyone to use, and now everyone is addicted to it as the primary part of their retirement. That's crap. We should take care of older folks who find themselves broke, but we shouldn't reward them & punish the folks who were responsible & sacrificed all their lives to be prepared for retirement. Medicare is the same boat, but like medicaide should be fixed & offered as low cost subsidised coverage.

Min wage forces low wage jobs underground to illegals. Honestly I don't care, very few people even at McDonalds work for min wage. Just so it stays low enough to be meaingless, and what business does Govt have sticking their nose into worker compensation?

Unions are dumb. To the extent they protect worker safety & fdispute resolution, that's great. But, if I build a business with my own two hands over my lifetime & make it into a profitiable force in the market, at what point do un/semi-skilled workers with me for a couple years get to tell me what I'll pay them & what benefits I will or will not provide. Screw that. It's my damn company & I'll hire or fire pay well or poorly anyone I damn please & if they don't like it they're welcome to leave. I do in fact take very good care of my employees, but that's becuase they are more productive for me & work for less out of loyalty. They know who the boss is, and it isn't them.

If you see a theme here, you'll find I'm more of a libretarian philosophically, as are most republicans, and conservative on a couple issues. But to each their own.

Nothing is wrong with being conservative.

Redpublican on the other hand is dangerous. Say you were a Christian and wanted to go to heaven. The bible says without Holiness no-one shall see God. You cannot consort with Redpublicans and be Holy. The very definition of Holy is to be separate from sin. Redpublican dogma is sin.

Nothing if you feel it is okay to look down on those who are poor and less fortunate than you are. Nothing it you feel that we should not allowed to be human and we should receive the harshest of punishments for the lightest infractions. Nothing if you feel that there is nothing wrong with a few people who hardly work and have far more than they need, while millions of people struggle to hold on to what little they have. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the message.

Absolutely nothing. Just don't infringe on the the rights of others or cause harm to them. Same goes for being a liberal/Democrat.

The only thing that there is anything wrong with is when you try to take away anothers rights, liberties, or property for your or someone else's gain. Then, regardless of labels, you are wrong.

Nothing, its your personal opinion. As long as your a Republican because you believe in their ideas. And not like the people at my school that choose to be Republican because they rather have the elephant symbol, then a donkey symbol. (Yeah sad but true) But then again your choice there too.

Absolutely nothing. I am proud to say that I am a Republican and I have stronger moral values than most people I know. I don't go around killing babies, taking people's hard earned money to spend on stupid government programs, and calling everyone a racist to get votes.
