Ask the person who set it up to provide you with the SSID (Network Name), and any security information (such as a WEP - Wireless Encryption Protocol - key). Then, you'll need to obviously have a computer that picks up wireless signals (or potentially buy a USB wireless network signal receiver, available at any retail electronics store). It will include a manual to setup the network connection, and follow its instructions specific to setting up the previously mentioned SSID/WEP. Good luck.

The router has to be hooked up to a modem which is connected to a DSL telephone or Cable TV internet service which costs $30 to $50 per month. However, even if you can't get to the internet, you can use the wireless router for your local area network to allow all the computers in your house to talk to one another and print to any printer on the network or hooked to one of your computers. If you have a laptop and it doesn't have an 802.11 WLAN capability, then you have to buy a WLAN PC card that plugs into your laptop PC card Bus. Likewise, you have to buy a WLAN PCI card to plug into your desktop PC or a USB WLAN client to plug into your USB bus. Your PCs may then "see" the WLAN Access Point (AP) router if it's broadcasting it's SSID network identifier name and it's encryption is turned off. You may have to set your PC network interface to "DHCP" (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) if the router assigns IP addresses to it's clients.

Yes. You just need a wireless port for your own computer and then let it self detect the existing Internet connection in the house.

You need to own a wireless laptop and need to see about getting the user name and password of the wireless network to connect to it.

You will find that wireless is the best thing since sliced bread!
Once you get connected, which is not difficult, enjoy it!
Just get that disc, recommended by others here, and get your laptop in sync with the wireless connection.
Best of luck.

Get a wireless ethernet card for your computer. They're cheap and easy to install. They take the place of your modem.

You'll need a wireless card for whatever computer you're using...plus the ssid and passkey if it's a secured network.

you ask them for the disk that they have used in the house to install the net. ( Bt have a disk available if its broad band)

Your laptop / comp needs to have a wireless facility on it. Once the disc is in , just have to follow instructions
