No, it is not to early to take a test. You should speak to your OB/GYN and have them give you a test. If it comes up negative talk with your doctor about taking a blood test. The cost of your blood test will depend on your insurance. You have a lot of the symptoms of pregnancy, so I wouldn't be surprised. If having sex with your boyfriend is hurting I would stop until you talk with your OB/GYN. Make a list of all your questions and take it with you to your appointment.

I got a postive test result the first time two days after my expected period. With my current pregnancy I got a positive result 8 days before my expected period and had it confirmed by the dr. Take a home test..I usually get First Response...if you're not sure about the results call the dr and tell them and they will probably send you for blood work. I don't think it's too early to take a test. Around my 5th week I got sore breasts (this time) and morning sickness started the 6th week. So some of the signs may start appearning thus far. But like I said take a test and best of luck!

The doctors at clinics use the same test that they sell in stores. You could take a test the first day after your missed period. If it still says negative then you could wait a week and take another test.
If negative still comes up and you still think you might be pregnant then you really should talk to your doctor. If there is a problem with the cost of visiting a doctor you could try Planned Parenthood. They charge you based on your income.
If you don't wish to wait for taking pregnancy tests then don't. See your doctor right away because maybe your body is trying to tell you something.

You can get a pregnancy test at the dollar store if there is one near you. I'm not sure if you mean you're in the 5th week of pregnancy which would mean your period is a week late or your period is 5 weeks late making you 9 weeks pregnant. (you start counting on the first day or your last period) Either way a pregnancy test will be accurate at this point. You'll need to see a doctor either way where they will confirm the pregnancy with a blood test. The pain is of concern for me and would like you to see a doc about that pregnant or not. There are quite a few clinics that will see you either for free or at a low cost. The nearest Planned Parenthood will help you find the right one for you.

I've used both EPT and store brand tests successfully- try getting a 2 pack of tests (many brands come that way now) so if the first comes out neg, you can wait a week and try again.
When I went to the Dr. to confirm my pregnancy, the nurse told me that home pregnancy tests may give you a false NEGATIVE, saying you're not pregnant when you ARE because you tested too soon or didn't follow the directions properly, but if they're positive, you're either pregnant now, or you were recently since HCG, the hormone they check for remains in your system for a few weeks after giving birth or having an abortion.
So.... a test is a test, and if it says you're knocked up, congratulations! (And yes, if you're feeling 'tighter' these days, it could be due to the extra fluid a pregnant body accumulates)

painful sex that early on may be a bad sign. I am in my 37th week and it hurt at my 32nd week. Yes, I think you are pregnant. I had the same symptoms. I would wait at least another week and have a doctor perform the test. I was 7 weeks at the hospital and had taken a home test 3 days before and it was negative. some local clinics offer free testing

you mentioned being concerned about the cost. I don't know about your area but here we have planned Parenthood that will generally do the testing for free. They only do pregnancy testing on Mondays though. It's best to call ahead and find out their testing schedules. The tests can be administered and provide accurate results very early on in a pregnancy. My opinion about that is the earlier the better. The sooner you know the sooner you can be more conscientious of taking care of your self and unborn child.

It's not too early to take a test and I would take an EPT in the AM...first pee of the day. Blood tests are usually covered by insurance but if you don't have that, I believe they are about $100. I have to wonder why you would not trust a pregnancy test though. Hopefully you are not just trying so hard that you have conviced yourself that you are. I've been there and the disappointment kills. EPTs are 99.7% right so I would take that. It's cheaper

I was supposed to have my period and the first day it didn't come I took an EPT test and it came up positive. If you still have doubts after taking the test go to your nearest Planned Parenthood and get a test there. (Note: It is also a urine test) Either way after the test they talk to you about the results. If it is neg. they might be able to tell you why you haven't had your period.

When I was 4 weeks pregnant, I bought a pack of epts and took one when I bought them and one in the morning, They say to take it in the morning, because that is when your HCG level is at it's peak..I knew to get a pregnacy test when I couldn't move because my back hurt so bad..My fiancee had to literally carry me around and such, I didn't start to get sore boobs until not that long ago, and i'm currently around 5 months...Well, I suggest you get a pregnancy test, and if it comes up positive, go to a free clinic and they will give you a test, if it comes out positive, go to your local wic clinic, and sign up, and you will be placed on medicaid, and they will pay for everything :)
