There are currently no impacts which threaten the Earth. Even "99942 Apophis" only made a level 2 at it's peak. And has been downgraded to a level one.

I've been reading this 9 year old comments. It's January 2015 now and the earth still exists. This Asteroid September 2015 prediction could or not happen. The earth changes and not permanent as we know, a better future is not certain and to get always prepared all the time for what is to come is the smartest thing to do.

Actually the Mayans predicted December 21,2012 as the Dawning of a new age. It maybe the destruction of all mankind or the next step in the evolution of mankind. One thing for sure the Mayans were just as advanced if not more in the area of astrology and time calculation as anyone in our modern times with-in 2 days over thousands of years. Some believe this was due to having being visited by aliens from another world as suggested by ancient Mayan art, writings and buildings that have survived thousands of years. But that is another area outside your question. As for an asteroid hitting the earth in that time frame i do believe the government is covering up something in that area. It is very consequential that over the past 2 years they have been doing alot of research in that area including landing a probe on a comet about a year ago. If the governments of the world knew anything they would tell no one till the last minuet if then to prevent world order collapse because big brother thinks we can't handle it and of course they would make provisions to save who they chose. I don't know if you keep up with the news but an asteroid just barley missed the earth last week it came within 232,000 miles of us which is closer than the moon! It made the news after it had passed it's closest point. Face it their are alot of people who trust the government but i don't know how old you are but the government knows alot more than they let on and we will always be the last to know anything.

"The physics may sound complex, but the potential ramifications are plain enough. If the asteroid passes through the most probable keyhole, its new orbit would send it slamming into Earth in 2036. It's unclear to some experts whether ground-based observatories alone will be able to provide enough accurate information in time to mount a mission to divert the asteroid, if that becomes necessary.
So NASA researchers have begun considering whether the US needs to tag the asteroid, known as 99942 Apophis, with a radio beacon before 2013.
Timing is everything, astronomers say. If officials attempt to divert the asteroid before 2029, they need to nudge the space rock's position by roughly half a mile - something well within the range of existing technology. After 2029, they would need to shove the asteroid by a distance as least as large as Earth's diameter. That feat would tax humanity's current capabilities.
Based on available data, astronomers give Apophis - a 1,000-foot wide chunk of space debris - a 1-in-15,000 chance of a 2036 strike. Yet if the asteroid hits, they add, damage to infrastructure alone could exceed $400 billion. When the possibility of the asteroid passing through two other keyholes is taken into account, the combined chance of the asteroid hitting the planet shifts to 1 in 10,000, notes Clark Chapman, a senior scientist with the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo."

What sort of science blog would tell you the world is going to end by 2015 but not give any proof to why? And what's this about Mayan pyramids? I would have doubts that a true scientific study would be using forecasts from thousands of years ago.

Read the book Remnants by K.A. Applegate. It is a science fiction book (that is based on scientists thoughts) about an astroid that destroys earth in 2011. It's really good. But I don't think it is something to worry about because my mom said when she was a kid, scientists predicted the end of the world in 1998, and it's 2006 and the world is still here.

The complexity of figuring out about anything hitting the earth is mind boggling. Our solar system doesn't travel in a straight line,it's more of a weaving,or bobbing movement. Our galaxy is huge, there are billions of objects in it that can be disastrous if they hit us.Our galaxy doesn't travel in a straight line either, and it travels at over 1,000,000 mph. It's engine that moves it is a very large black hole, which also moves back and forth within a limited distance of about ten light years. Our galaxy is going to merge with another. Why worry about something hitting us?Be happy everyday, drink some wine with friends, laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Is something headed toward Earth? Yes, all the time. I don't know about the Mayan stuff, but if you are really worried, check out the NEO site. It lists all of the near earth space objects and their rating as to if and impact is probable or not, and when the object will be intersecting with our orbit. It is a very informative site.

there are billions of asteroids heading toward earth, in fact, a couple tons of matter are added to the earth every like 20 years or something like that from space... you don't have to worry about it though unless it's a REALLY big one. They all burn up in our atmosphere.
