Here I was last year. Gorgous, fun, blue eyed blonde. I was really going to be someone and do something with my life. I had my college planned out, my car, I was working a good job. Then one day I just lost my job, didnt get my car, and found out i cant afford my college. Now i have to live at home, take the bus to a lame dirty community college, and get seperated from all of my friends. Not to mention I have gained 10 pounds to my once great figure. I could just sit on my bed and cry all day.

first of all, gainning ten pounds is normal for your first year of college, plus stress makes you gain weight. 10 lbs isn't that hard to lose, so why don't you work on that, and get your self esteem back up. Now, sometimes being seperated from your friends can be good for you. it helps you discover the real you, and helps you to learn about yourself. taking the bus is kinda a downer, but hey, you don't have to pay for gas, or deal with ignorant drivers. living at home isn't that bad. it's cheaper. And yes i know how it is to want nothing more then to get out from under the protective wing of your parents, but it isn't the end of your world. find another job, it may not be as wonderful as the last one, but at least you'll be getting paid. start to lose that unwanted weight, not only will loosing the weight make you feel good, but the exercise also will make you feel better. And look for the good stuff in your life, and stop concentrating on the bad.

You sound like one of those "beutiful" people who had things handed to them their whole life, and now that things don't go your way you cry, leave the crying for the people who actually HAD hard lives, and why does it have to be a DIRTY AND LAME community college? You know not everyone can afford high dollar stuff like YOU ma'am, oh wait you can't anymore either, looks like your stuck in DIRTY AND LAME community college like the rest of us poor people.

Now that that is off my chest, you can't just give up, motivate your self somehow and find another no experience needed high paying job, so you can get yourself out of going to LAME AND DIRTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE......

Also you probably shouldn't rely on people from the internet for answers considering, most people regurgitate the same uplifting "If you think positive, positive things will happen" qoutes until your head explodes, only I'm not that person, so I decided to give you a very straight forward answer

Cheer up, as hard as that is to do, when things seem to be at there ab salute worst always keep in mind that things can always get worse. But realistically things aren't worse now, right? so why can't things change right now? PRONTO! well you are learning lessons and getting older. If you start to realize college isn't just "college" without the struggle. The sayings like " freshmen fifteen" and "eating ramen noodle casserole" aren't jokes they are the truths of starting a new life and becoming YOU! you'll always have Blondie hair and blue eyes, and ten pounds is hard to swallow but cut yourself some slack you seem to have alot on your plate. Just to make yourself focus on something positive, everyday, even if that's harder than your physic's paper you need to drag yourself out of this rut and hind site will soon become 20/20. Good Luck!!!

Hun, you are not the only person who has gone through what you are describing and more..
DON’T GIVE UP on your dream.. go to your community college, work as hard as you can at your studies and get As and Bs. that will help when you go to transfer to a 4yr college (a lot of government, college, and private grants and lone are based on your financial condition and former grades). get a part time job (if you can handle working and going to school at the same time.) next summer take 1 or 2classes and get a part time job, or forget school for the summer and just get the job. then SAVE, SAVE, SAVE your $$$! if you really want something- nothing, can hold you back..
--Beth
PS. in the evening take a half-hr walk or if you can’t do that turn on the radio in your room close the door and dance (or march in place)

Community college isnt all that bad. I know it sucks in the meantime but if you do well you can take a 2 year degree and get into a great school. This girl that i went to school with went to the community college in our town, got her associates and then went on to NYU. I was so pissed. This girl wasnt even smart... she was prolly a B- student in high school. But then she got into a great school that I got rejected from. (yes i'm bitter) So I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are smarter than this chick and you can get good grades at this lame CC and go on to bigger and better things. Take advantage of living with your parents as a time you dont have to pay rent and save up for school. Plus, if you do well the 4 year school you get into will prolly give you some aid anyway. Good luck! And hit the gym... its good for depression :-)

You are up against a depression it sounds like. Look up Depression in Yahoo Search You need to talk to a professional about these emotions and events. There are strategies and treatments for this problem. But if you just keep hiding in your house, you are making it more difficult for yourself.

Also, look up Social Phobia or Anxiety Disorder and see if you identify with the most curable and common mental health problem in America.

Also, please don't be turned off by the words Mental Health. Almost every one of us suffer with mental health problems during our life. Some more than others. But there is no reason to think this is anything but a normal human crisis. So relax and just pursue a treatment.

I sounds like you had a bad year. As someone who is much older and had a lot of bad years and a lot of good ones, it seems like we have to have these times to enjoy when life is good. Keep your chin up, work hard at your schooling and save, save, save. Living at home will give you an opportunity to save a lot of money if you manage it well. Maybe then you could go to a four year college after a couple of years of Junior College. Whatever you do don't let this setback make you think that your life will always be this way. It is up to you to make something of yourself.

so you had potential to be something great and you feel you didn't live up to it? to be truly successful you need to learn to deal with misfortunes such as the ones described. stop feeling sorry for yourself and hiding from the world, only losers do that. try your best to find a scholarship to the school you really wanted to go to, improve your skills to get a better job, and just start saving for a down payment on a car. and slap yourself for all the self-pity.

p.s. crying over your situation instead of taking action makes you gain weight. ok not really but it's just really pathetic

Sound's like you need to get back on track! Okay first off... start applying for a new job! Get some new friends, it's not that hard. And if you're really concerned about the weight just start biking to college, it'll get you in shape. God bless
