Not to California: I'm English. But at £140 - £400 a day for voice only acting (audio books / radio) my advise to you is: make sure the ground work is in with theatre etc. and make sure you have a sponsor / decent agent before diving in head first, also make sure that you have something to fall back on, as it's a really fickle business.

Well, I'm not an actor, but I do know a bit about what happens. If you follow your dreams, you can do anything. But don't expect to come to California and be picked up immediately.I would suggest going to College after high school and continuing acting there. Not only will you get a degree, but you will also meet the contacts that you need to make it. Good luck and Maybe we'll see on the big screen in a few years!

I dont want to scare you away because acting is a wonderful thing. First of all, dont think that just because you have the looks and have been taking acting classes for 3 years that you can do it no problem. It takes time and watching other successful actors do what they do. I'm not saying you cant, because i dont know that, but if you get cocky like that, agencies will not want you. you should get involved with your school theater, if you're not, and try that out for a while. or the community theater, or something like that. but I would not recommend going to california and trying to make your way. get a 'real' job, and do that on the side.
NOTE: this is my advice. you do whatever you want.

I am not an aspiring actress, but I am an aspiring writer. I am 29 yrs now and I've been writing since I was 8 years old. i remember my dad telling me when i told him that i wanted to be a writer to: 'Pick something else.' and that Bill Crosby has a doctorate degree and is still an actor. At the age of 10, it was something I didn't understand. So now I am getting back into my writing because I have realized it is something I have alwyas wanted to do, amongst other things.
What I would like to say to you, is don't give up. You will have A LOT of people telling youwhat you should and shouldn't do, but it would be your choice to decide what is the right choice. And if you make a mistake, you get back up and go. I always thank God that he gives me another chance everyday i wake up to prove that I can get up and go again.
If you would like, you can contact me on my yahoo account to let me know of your endeavours. Think of all the people who have tried on American Idol and So you think you can dance?. they followed their dream. Go to every acting workshop. Practice every line and stay positive. YOU are the only one stopping yourself from doing anything.
Good luck!

It is extremely difficult to become a working actor. If you want to act, you should, go to college and get a Master of Theater degree. It's much easier to work where you live, than, in L.A., or New York. Be a "star" in your hometown! Perform in all of the professional and community theatre productions, then, perhaps you can go to L. A., it will always be there! my dream to N.Y. I'm still here, and will start auditioning again, after taking some "time off," from the business.

Three years of acting classes and you want to make it big time? Keep dreaming, sister! You really needed to start earlier, but still go for it! Get a collage education first so you have something to rely on if the acting world isn't doing it for you. But if you are going to follow your dream, you gotta go all the way. You can't just kind of want it, you have to devote your life to it. It is risky, but if that is what you want, do it. You only have one life to live, or at least as you as you know it (reincarnation).

well, this isn't how the real world is...but, if you're a mind-blowing actress, looks shouldn't really matter, that's what get's on my nerves about hollywood, they're all glamour, there's not much talent. well, any way...what can you do? audition, audition, audition!!! never loose hope, no matter how much people discourage you, if you believe in yourself, there is nothing that can stop you. take criticism optimistically and build yourself using that criticism (don't forget to thank those who criticize you) i'm not from cali, so i can't say much about there, but here in ny, i've learned that people will discourage you intentionally and watch how you work under thoe circumstances, they do this to see a game of survival of the fittest...no matter what, don't break :) good luck

I think what you need to do, fiirst, is practice by performing in plays, and take a refresher course in acting. I rehearesed for one play in high school, by choice. And another as a stand in. But I was never really in a play, until after I graduated. Then it was a Christmas play. But play or movie, or tv, every performance requires a lot of rehearshing. But when it comes to tv, I heard that several episodes are filmed every day, for one show. Sure you can handle that?

you have to work at it. it will suck for years and you will make no money but one day someone will see you in a commercial or something and that will lead to a guest spot on a sitcom, then more guest spots, then your own sitcom, then a movie, then a play, then another sitcom. then a talk show. good luck and don't give up.
