I read that. Try the books that follow it in the series: "Whatever Happened to Janie," "The Voice on the Radio," and "What Janie Found."
Anything by Cooney is probably good for that age bracket. You might also want to try novels by Sharon Creech.

Face on the Milk Carton? I hated that book, had to read it for some class back in 6th grade. I recomend anything by Brian Jacques or John Steinbeck.

Jane Louise Curry, Norma Fox Mazer, Jenny Pausacker, and Joan Phipson are a few you may want to check on. I am so glad to hear that young men and women read. That is so very important! Enjoy your reading! I did read the book ,The Face... it was great. All her books are.

I read it in middle school for a summer reading project. I liked it a lot then too. Have you seen the made for tv movie? I like that as well!
Have you tried looking for books in the teens section of your library? They have a lot of series that are pretty good!

I read it ages ago and liked it. I think I also read its sequel, where the girl actually goes to live with her other family for a while. I liked that one too.
In my early teens, I liked Ellen Conford for laughs and Ann Rinaldi and Lois Lowry for serious stuff - but that was a while ago! I'm not sure what's around these days.

I saw the movie, it was ok.
Try reading some classics, like Jane Eyre or something. I loved that book when I was younger.
