I'd get all the details... place of work, workhours, wages, etc... then contact the IRS then your local law enforcement. Also take pictures of him on the job if you can. That is an enormous help.

This is always the biggest problem with collecting child support. If the father is paid in cash, it is hard to 'track' however, unless he is dodging the IRS, he should be filing. Even if he is not, you can still take him to court - he will have to show the courts how he is taking care of himself, living expenses, etc. If you know some of this information, you can present it on your behalf. In other words - if he is paying rent somewhere you can find out what the rent amount is - it's hard - but if you hire an attorney, they can find out - they always have 'detectives' to investigate and conclude what kind of money is coming in and what's going out. I don't understand men who would go to such lengths to avoid helping their child live. They are so full of hate they think that the money is going to the mother - and would rather not work than to think they are paying her anything. So sad. And then these are the kids that are bitter and withdrawn, or are behavior problems that I get in my classroom - and I have to do whatever I can to help them turn their attitudes and thinking around. Please don't give up - your child deserves support.

Even if he works for cash, a lawyer would be able to garnish his employer. If you want to turn him in for tax evasion, you just call the IRS.

If he isn't paying child support, he is in contempt of court and can be jailed.

Is there more to this story?

How is turning him in for tax evasion going to help collect child support?

BTW, the chance of him being jailed for tax evasion is probably zero.

Call the IRS. It should be pretty simple to prove; if he is dumb enough not to claim his cash income, he probably lives beyond his 'mean's' and his out-going bills will prove his income is higher than his stated income. Many think they can beat the system, cash or not there is always a 'paper trail'.

call the irs, and tell them, they would probably be happy to check it out, but you have to have the name and address of his employer. And dates, if possible.
