Personally, I think gasoline should be priced much, MUCH higher than the current level. My reasoning is that the higher the price goes, the bigger fit people will throw. The bigger fit people throw, the higher the likelihood that we can reduce/eliminate our dependency on oil (both domestic and foreign) and begin mainstreaming a cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuel that will probably end up cheaper anyway.

A sudden increase won't do anyone any good. If the petroleum gas price per gallon could be fixed at $3 per gallon in 2006, and increase by 25% per year, it would get people's attention and they would move closer to where they work, and use resources more efficiently in general. Increases could be done via taxes, money earned from those taxes could go to creating alternative fuels which could sell at market rate. Even biodiesel and biobutanol are better alternatives and could be priced at whatever the market is willing to pay based on supply and demand. Right now most of us are stuck with a petroleum dependency with no other choices. Having other choices would bring prices closer to true market value.

Well what I wish it were, and what I know is reasonable are two different things LOL free sounds nice to me. But I know that won't ever happen. But what i think would be a good price for it would be about $1.25 Per gallon.

Less. But that won't happen unless we increase supply faster.
