The bad thing about Ebay and some other sites are that you can't try them on. So they might not fit and then you have the issue with alterations.
I would say a good idea would be to go to your local mall and look for a Debs or Macy's or some other stores where they often have great clearance sales on formal dresses, and they have many sizes you can actually try on there. Buying dresses from the internet is risky because you never know how reliable the seller is and if it will fit or what it looks like in person.
Debs is in my area, it's for prom dresses and formal wear and they had $150.00 dresses on sale for $30.00 where I live. Macy's, JC Penney and Sears also have formal dresses on sale at times so I'd check out your local mall before buying anything on the internet.

This might not sound good but goodwill has cheap dresses all the time...just take it to the cleaners n its as good as new most of the time...ull probalby pay like $5....but its all on what ur lookin for

you can go to alldresses.com, simplydresses.com, or shopshop.com oh yeah also go to jcpenny.com, they always have a sale on formals. But www.shopshop.com has dresses for 40$ and sometimes cheaper
