Why haven't the federal goevernment given the people an Cost of Living Adjustment due to these gas prices?

I'm afraid they will never give us our due while we keep re-electing them. Over 90% percent win re-election after re-election, entrenching them deeper and deeper into an ever more corrupt system.

Without endorsing any particular party or candidate, I suggest we all make a point of voting in new blood in the coming 06 & 08 elections. You can still vote democrat, republican or independent; just resolve that they will not be incumbents.

Nothing less than that will "rock" the vote, level the playing field. Nothing less than that can be revolutionary!

I hope I can explain this very simple. With the price of gas increasing the Federal Government can not tamper with the pricing of private businesses such McDonald's, Wal-Mart, neither the Tabacco Companies. If so it could show a sign of favortism. Check this out, when your dad gets a $2.00 a hour increase on his paycheck, and out mentioning it the rent goes up, milk cost more, and you need the newest "Chris Brown" compact disc. The Cost of Living will only make EVERYONE ELSE RAISE THEIR PRICES!!!

Because gasoline is not a basic need like food, shelter, and clothing. You may think it is but it's not. You have the option to spend money on gas or not. If the cost of gas is too much then you can use public transportation which is infinitely cheaper. Or you can ride a bicycle which is free. Your answer is that luxuries are not a "cost of living".

If by employing oil agencies, you propose BP etc, they common 8% salary on the sale of gasoline, even as the authorities receives 13%. you want to examine opec, and the falling dollar in case you're searching for someone to blame on your 4 dollar gallon. Opec is a monopoly that we are unwilling to bust. the clarification the gasoline agencies are making record salary is because there are in ordinary words a number of them that promote to the total us of a, because maximum agencies intend to make a heck of a lot more suitable than 8% in earnings.

If you work for them i can understand why .IF it were not for the government you would be on the street begging for lose change from people passing by .
YOUR crasp of english and grammer are so far below average i am suprized you are able to earn a living at all and part of the reason government is so in-effective at meeting the needs of the people.
TAX payers like myself are tired of footing the bill for un-educated fools that take up space in our government.
NO one deserves a raise in fact they owe us all a rebate on monies received for services they failed to provide.

Because you have a choice of what you drive and how much. As long as the people continue to drive, and they are, and continue to drive gas-guzzling vehicles, and they generally are, it is obvious the people have adjusted and don't need supplementation.

Personally, I moved closer to work and started to ride my bike. I save in gas the price of my bike on a monthly basis.

Because the gov't doesn't and shouldn't regulate wages in this country. If the high price of gas bothers you, get a more fuel efficient car, or walk, and buy less stuff!

Not sure what you are referring to. The government doesn't control that unless you are referrinng to a minimum wage and social security increase. Btw, Congress gets an automatic raised based on that. GO FIGURE?
