Yes i think its fair , but Matterazi deserves it too as he did initiate the fight by swearing at his origin with unacceptable language . The slogan of the world cup is " No to racism " as appears in the begining of every game , and it appears that Matterazi violated this principle and he should be punished for being a racist .

yes it was an unsportsman like act. that and the ball was no where around. it was a good call by the ref. completly out of furstration and anger.
