Realistically all prices are going to go up regardless. Gas is one of them and there are several reasons for this. For the sake of not being political, I won't go into most of them but one. There are a lot more users and not as much to go around anymore. China, India and the US have seen a surge in vehicle usage. We're driving bigger, faster and more than ever before. I do not think that prices will go down, only up. Driving less and smarter is the best way to save money. I used to drive 45000 miles a year back in the day. I drove 9000 this last year, and will probably drive about 7000 this year.

In about 8 to 12 years from now. It has all to do with economics. A. It is still cheap enough compared with alternatives.
B. Environmental groups still reject nuclear power

In the end of its lifecycle, gas prices will start to decline. The problem is, you may not want/need it at that time anymore.

When E-85 (Ethanol) gets a stronger hold
on the American gas market.
Note: Ethanol doesn't have to made from
food crops.
It can be made from anything from wood chips
to garbage.
WalMart will lead the way.

I don't think they ever will as long as the USA doesn't have ienough domestic oil to fulfill its needs.

We have been lucky all these years. Many countries have paid the equivalent of 5 USD per gallon for many years.

All prices on consumer goods have upwards trends. Same reason we won't be paying twenty five cents to see a movie. It must go up.
