"How much is a five dollar bill from 1985 worth?"

Has the bill been paid? You worried about an ancient library fine or what?

What cost $5 in 1985 will now cost you about $18

The face value would be just the five dollars, but in today's economy, it's probably only gonna buy you TWO dollars worth of goods or service! Rotten deal, huh?

only $5

I'll give you $3 that is what is is worth. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
You will find someone willing to give you more, but I bet it is worth about $5 max.

5 bucks, period. Now if you had one from 1895 - in mint condition - that might be another story.
