yes and no because you can love someone and not have any understanding that is the word itself but if you truly love understanding will fall into place but only if it is love but yes you can love and not have understanding just remember that each one person is different and so is love

Not true. Deprive a tree of water and it dies. Even if I don't understand my wife at all sometimes, I still love her. Therefore the statement "love could not lack understanding" is rubbish. Think of all the people you love and don't understand.

No, not true. I don't think I will ever fully understand my husband on some of the things he does but I know I still love him & will always love him very much. Same thing with my parents, I just don't get them sometimes but I love them with my whole heart.
