the check engine lite has been on since i had the car and it runs fine but after you drive it enough for it to warm up the check engine lite will go off and the car will start running bad and then flood itself out. you can start it back up by holding the gas to the floor and then feather the gas to get going then after you get going the check engine lite will come back on and start running right

Go by Auto Zone and they will decode what your check engine light is trying to tell you ,, I am leaning toward it being engine temperature related engine temp sensor or coolant sensor and or the TPS throttle position sensor the Mass air flow sensor can be checked by knocking on it, if the engine dies when you do that it is bad ,, But the flooding can be caused by an incorrect temp reading and the wrong info sent to your engine by the ECM , Another words giving your engine a rich [cold] fuel mixture when it should be a lean fuel mixture !!!!!

Definitely sounds like your MAF sensor. While your at it, check all of the vaccum lines to be sure they aren't leaking. Good luck.
