In fact are there real cowboys at all anymore? Seems like ranchers and farmers cant afford to do their work these days as giant enterprise is taking over. Anyway, Ive always liked the history and skill of cowboys, but their reputed to be very old-boy conservative. I only know stereotypes, not real people, so please tell me if you know.

yes there are still cowboys. Giant enterprise can't get on the back of a horse and go round up cows now can they? In the 21st century I am sure we have some liberal cowboys along with the conservative ones. Whether you are liberal or conservative doesn't have a darn thing to do with climbing up on a horse.

Most of the real cowboys I know, with the exception of one or two, aren't really political at all. It would be hard to tell what they were. Most of them are good husbands, fathers, and grandfathers who are too busy to worry about what the guys in suits are doing. Once in awhile they may get radical about something that's going on in D.C., but many think most politicians are out for themselves and generally vote for who they think is the lesser of the evils. If you're referring to manners, cowboys are very conservative...they still hold doors, etc. for women and the elderly.

There are, and I'm one of 'em. I've got 5 horses, throw a mean rope, watch my language around women, and I am fascinated by science and politics. I lean to the right on economic issues (I want to keep as much of my hard-earned money as I can - guess that's a little of the old-boy conservative in me) and lean to the left on social issues (I believe in complete free speech regardless of what you have to say, am a big fan of controversial artists like Andres Serrano, Robert Mapplethorpe, etc. and have little tolerence for bigots - there are plenty in the country). Some people in the small town where I live don't really get me, but they all seem to like me.

Most real cowboys know about nature, the farm, the world....so finding a liberal may be difficult. Good Luck!!!
