The seam is in the middle of the kitchen, high traffic area. It hasn't lifted up badly, but I want to do something about it before it gets really bad. Thanks!

I had this happen in my kitchen.

What you do is to take some kind of glue ... I used rubber cement ... and put the stuff underneath the lifted-up linoleum. And then you take an electric iron (like the kind you iron clothes with) and plug it in. Using a towel or cloth of some kind between the iron and the linoleum (so that you don't melt or damage your linoleum), "iron" the lineoleum until it is warm enough to lay down flat and re-glue itself.

Now, the only "catch" is that -- in the case of my kitchen -- the linoleum was about 45-50 years old. So it was so old and hardened that it didn't do very good because the linoleum didn't want to lay down flat no matter how warm I got it. But I have known other people to use this method very effectively -- and I suspect that your lineoleum isn't all that old!

Get a small tube of construction adhesive and apply a very small amount underneath the linoleum. Weight the linoleum down until the glue dries. Set back and look at your great job.

***Do not use too much of the construction adheasive, because it might ooze out of the seam while you are weighting the seam back down.

vinyl floors are tricky to repair and really should be done by a professional. if the seam is in a high traffic area, chances are there is dirt under it because it wasn't sealed. New glue doesn't stick to dirty old glue, so if you follow the advice of most of these answers here, you will find yourself doing some very time-consuming work without solving your problem.

re glue it, place heavy weight on top of the seam and wait for it to dry.
