Were looking for 3000+ square ft, under 1 million dollars, are there any specific areas such as suburbs etc. where homes arent as expensive?

Unfortunately, it is difficult to find homes in that price range for that size. Basically, what you have to do is travel a little bit further out of the Bay Area.

The Livermore, Danville, Pleasanton, Mountain House area is relatively good. Nice areas, bigger houses. This area is located about a 30-60 minute drive from San Jose. Here are some local listings in that area.

Sacramento is also much cheaper, but a littl far if you want to commute to the San Jose area.

Also, try Modesto. It is a nice area and about an hour drive from the San Jose area.

I found a house on this page for $700,000 at 3,750 square feet in Modesto.

So, there is hope- you just have to look a little farther out of the center of the Bay. Good luck!

No, not any place where it's nice to live unless you move wayyyy out like to Antioch or Brentwood, Manteca. Nothing in the Bay Area or the Peninsula with 3000 sq ft under a million.
