Personally I have to say I am impressed with the Amish, I have had to honor to visit old Amish farms in my youth and I was amazed how they seemed to be so solid in their beliefs. The work they did and do today by all, From the elderly to the children made me envy them in so many way. The families I had the pleasure of meeting seemed content and so smart for living in such a manner that was so different then the easy life the rest of us live. We take things for granted and we would surely fail if things were to cease to be the way they are and we had to do without our easy way of life. Where as the Amish live by natural means would continue to be strong. So my hats off to the Amish, You are truly a great people.

When I look and see how the modern life is going~ I think you are very fortunate to have such an experience! People are too into "things" and don't appreciate what they do have~ most people anyways. Are you still living an Amish lifestyle? I've often thought the world would be better off that way. Not from a religous stand point~ I feel all people should be able to have the religions of thier choice~ I mean the basics. I think we'd all be better off.

The way they isolate themseves is not a good thing. As a result of this isolation Amish people are more likely to have genetic defects than the average person. Not enough variety of genes.

I don't know alot about it. Each to his own!I have a couple of kids that work in a Mennonites(spelling or pronouncing?) Store and the owners are some of the sweetest people i have ever met.my grand-kids love em like family. so if your believes are anything like they have , more power to you.
it does seam like they make things alot harder then they got to be , but you cant say they are lazy.

I think that it's wrong for us to just cut ourselves off as much as possible from the outer world and live in solitude; God told us to spread the news, and to be a light to the rest of the world. You can't do that by hiding yourself away.

I don't know a whole lot about them, but i drove around in some rural parts of ohio and pennsylfania, and i saw them using buggies drawn by donkeys, and farming and stuff, i honked and they waved so i guess they is cool, but i like having electricity and my cars.

I'd rather be locked in a room with one of you than with a Taliban.
