Clapton, Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Page, George Harrison is way under-rated, Robert Johnson, B.B. King...my opinion is for a real guitar talent, you have to look at the blues.

8)Christopher Parkening-has a very good touch and inflection.
9)Rick...Galin?-This real short stocky black man who lived in Chicago area. I don't think he ever even got recorded. But I've never ever heard any other blues guitarist that could improvise fast leads using entirely chords. I mean not just one finger bar chords or chords with the same finger pattern. Sadly he died pretty young back in '94 I think.
10)Yngwie Malmsteen- had to throw a rock musician in there
