When filming scenes like that, the fil maker has many choices.
the camer angles could be something like a close up, or a wide range.
Im not too familiar with the film myself but i would presume that in the football scenes they will do a lot of close ups of the players, and probably of them kicking the ball.
One of the main reasons this would happen is it adds to the pace and excitement of the scene.
As in if the camera was far away and you are seeing someone run with a ball it is not as exciting as if the camera was very close to the feet while running with the ball. It is all about pace and excitement.

They may also show close ups of the faces of the players and basically it is the same principle plus also it adds a real life element to it.

I hope this helps a wee bit, if you are in doubt just do what i always used to do and wing it, make it up and as long as you can justify it then you will be fine.
I used to do it at school for essays and i am now a journalist . lol

It would really help you to get a copy of the film and watch for yourself.
In addition to the suggestions already made, I would imagine that some shots were of close ups without showing the actor's face or long shots where the actor couldn't be identified. This would be necessary for the technical reason that at times it wouldn't be the actor actually playing football - but a football player standing in.

I haven't seen the film, but I imagine what the question is asking is: from point of view is football scenes shot from. Is it from the star point of view as she is running after the ball. Is is from the fans point of view watching it. Is it from the sky, showing the overall picture, or from the ball, as people kick it.

"what are the camera angles like during the football scenes? why?"
They are 'like' they are.
and because the Director chose them as the best way to illustrate the game of football he was depicting.
